MediaTek, Acer, and EasyCard Corp. declared on January 19 that they are going to provide "Taipei 2017 29th Summer Universiade" 13,000 smart sports watches Acer Leap Ware, reported Commercial Times on January 20. The watch is expected to be officially launched in second quarter of 2017. "Acer Leap Ware" is the first smart sports watch of Acer, featuring MediaTek SoCs (System on Chips) MT2523 and MT2511. Other than functions of a sports watch, this watch can store value and make purchases just like EasyCard and support iOS and Android system with long-time battery life and waterproof design. Over the years, MediaTek has interested in IoT and wearable businesses and through this cooperation, the company has succeeded in expanding its reach to wearables.
